“A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions.” – Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.
Hey Friends,
Welcome back to my blog! This week I’m going to be sharing about all things New York!
As most of you know by now, I love to travel and have been to twenty-two destinations (still counting). I thought it would be great to use this year to focus on travel and give you all a breakdown of each destination I’ve visited. This will include where to go, why you should visit, and the best time to travel, amongst many other details. Think of me as your virtual travel agent. (I will still cover lifestyle and events often also.) Travelling is a privilege for most of us, and I think it’s only fitting that we are all well-informed of things to consider before boarding the flight.
What do Eddie Murphy, Jennifer Lopez, and Adam Sandler all have in common? Well, they were all born in New York! New York is a city that is rich in culture, a melting pot of diversity, and full of opportunity. Between visiting the world-famous central park, watching a play on Broadway, or tasting some of the finest pizza New York has, you’ll never run out of things to do.
My first and only trip to New York was when I was seventeen. This was a family trip; we spent a good week sightseeing, trying new food, and visiting friends and family. Sadly, I don’t have many pictures or strong memories from this trip. Still, I remember feeling like it was similar to London and loving the warm hot weather as we visited during the summertime. We stayed in Brooklyn and used the metro (underground/tube) as our primary method of transport while out and about. I remember visiting Times Square and thinking, “Wow, this place is huge .” It was a good trip, and I recommend everyone should experience New York, even if you only go once.
New York comprises Five Boroughs consisting of Manhattan, Staten Island, the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Queens.
Since my visit to New York there has been a rise of so many more things to do. Visiting again as a young adult would give me a new-found appreciation for the city. If I were to go back again, I would visit top of the rock in the Rockefeller Centre, Take a helicopter tour, and visit a few museums, specifically the SUMMIT One Vanderbilt in Midtown Manhattan. The artwork there is so aesthetically pleasing
I would probably go during the winter time next time round, to see the city with all the festive lights and winter activities such as shopping at the Christmas market at union square and watching a Christmas show at radio city music hall. This is a great city to visit for mainly families and friends. It can also be a great trip for couples as there is a lot to do though it isn’t the most romantic destination.
Have you been to New York before? If so, please share what you did and if you would go back. I would love to hear it.
Stay tuned to see which destination I’ll be covering next time, and be sure to share this with a friend.
Till next time,
Lots of love
Sasha
